Most people carry a back pack/purse/bag of some description so adding a few extra items in wouldn’t hurt. Just remember to carry backups e.g. instead of carrying one torch carry two in case of faults.
Carrying food & water is not too hard if you use a back pack or similar as you can just throw a bottle of water & a box of snack bars into the bag & rotate them as needed (buy the replacements first).
What I carry is enough to get me home in the event of a disaster.
Also remember if you are going to EDC do it responsibly e.g. no guns etc, if you are carrying a knife don’t flash it around.
