Forum / Survival Kit suppliers
Terry asked on the Ask an Expert page: “Are there any companies that sell ready-made survival kits? (even just the very basics) I’m only asking because of the high rate of people in your poll who don’t have kits ready to go & wondered if they could be bought, at a reasonable rate, at various outlets EG: supermarkets, The warehouse, Civil defence, etc. maybe more people would have them? Just a thought!”

Absolutely, there are companies out there that sell survival equipment, The Warehouse, http://www.survive-it.co.nz, and http://www.prepare.co.nz all provide various survival packs of different sizes. See http://www.qsafety.com for equipment to quake proof your house or search the internet for “earthquake safety products.” The important thing is to make sure you check your kit contains everything recommended by Civil Defence, and that it caters for your specific needs in the event of the emergency. And if you buy a kit remember to add your cans of food and fill the water bottle up!
